(CZ) Клуб ПРАГматики

The origin of the name “Klub PRAGmatiki” lies in merging the name of the city – Prague and the English word “mates”, thus reflecting our primary location and the overall spirit of the organization. Established in Prague in 2008, formal registration followed in 2010.

Mission:
To facilitate the social and the cultural integration of the Russian-speaking inhabitants of Czech Republic by attracting socially active and creative people and creating and strengthening a favorable environment for developing their potential, while expanding the capacity and the range of activities of the Klub.

We achieve these though a variety of cultural and social projects that gather locals and migrants to exchange cultural and social experiences and heritage. Projects range from weekly networking gatherings to workshops, cross-cultural discussions and large events such as concerts and annual talent contests that gather 300-400 visitors. The overall audience involved in the activities and/or taking part as visitors exceeds 2000 people.
Our events are focusing on bringing creative talents from the migrants and the majority population together and getting them involved in cultural projects to reduce prejudice and facilitate mutual understanding.

We routinely cooperate with city and government offices and NGOs in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Projects include:

  • Educational workshops on subjects of interest (music, arts, history)
  • Discussion clubs
  • Musical and theatre events showcasing migrant and local talents, often related to traditional celebrations
  • Annual multicultural talent festival and contest KOLORIT (since 2009; in 2012 won by a Czech performer for the first time)
  • Weekly Friday networking meet-ups helping migrants find informal connections – 6 years continuously!
  • Charity events

It is important to stress the integrational and the European dimensions of our activities, that aim to educate the participants regarding the involved cultures and thus improve the quality of living of the migrant community and the majority population coming in touch with them.
